Cooking Steps
- 1In a stand mixer, combine lukewarm water, warm milk, yeast, and sugar/honey. Let it sit for 4 minutes.
- 2Add eggs and olive oil to the mixture and whisk until combined.
- 3Gradually add flour and salt, mixing in the stand mixer on medium-high speed for 4-5 minutes.
- 4Flour your work surface lightly, knead the dough for 5 minutes, and form it into a round ball.
- 5Oil the mixer bowl lightly, place the dough back in, cover with cling wrap, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 6Punch the dough down and let it rise for another hour
- 7Divide the dough into 4 equal parts, shaping each into a ball. Cover loosely with cling wrap and let rest for 10-15 minutes.
- 8Roll out one dough ball to fit the bottom of your cast iron skillet, ensuring slightly thicker edges for the crust.
- 9Grease the skillet with olive oil, place the dough inside, and let it rise for 1 hour.
- 10Preheat the oven to 500°F. Brush the crust edges with egg wash.
- 11Add your sauce and desired toppings. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly
- 12Optionally, broil for a few minutes to caramelize toppings or crisp the cheese.
- 13Notes:
- 14Use a natural ingredient red sauce, such as Rao’s, for a healthier option.
- 15Broiling the pizza for a few minutes will enhance the caramelization of toppings like pepperoni.
